A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Kofi Ntiamoah has said if delegates want the success of the party, then they will definitely ensure that Bawumia leads as flagbearer.
According to him, the victory for elections 2024 depends largely on whoever that will be leading as flagbearer.
“For everyone who think about the party and will want to ensure that the party breaks-the-eight year jinx, then will definitely throw their support behind Bawumia because he’s the only candidate that could ensure that our vision is materialized as a party”, he said.
He clarifies that he’s supporting Bawumia not because he has any personal relations with him. However, he’s doing so because he has the victory of the party at heart.
“Honestly as I sit here, I will do just a simple analysis. We all know the Eastern and Ashanti remains NPP’s stronghold and no matter what happens, they will always vote for NPP. But regions like Greater Accra and Central region remain a swing region. Hence, if we elect someone from the Ashanti region or central region to become a flagbearer for the NPP, definitely it wouldn’t change anything-Because it’s the same points we are going to get. However, if we elect someone from the Northern region, it will increase our votes in the weak areas like the northern region so that we can add that to our strength for victory”, he explained to Kwaku Dawuro.
“We did this analysis and realised Bawumia is the best person to lead”, he said.
Adding that since 1992, the NPP had never won a single parliamentary seat in the North, but the narrative is different today because the NPP has 16 seats against the 15 of the NDC.
