The Eastern Regional 2nd Vice Chairman hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Micheal Oteng Adu, has admonished Ghanaians to keep the NPP- led government in power to ensure the progress of the country.
He said this on an Interview on Movement In The Morning Political Show on Accra based Movement TV.
“The introduction of digitization under the NPP government clearly shows the efficiency of the party. The records are clear. Today digitization has reduced a lot illegal activities in the country. An example is the recent football match between Ghana and Nigeria in Kumasi, the tickets were sold online and that brought transparency as compared to the days the tickets were sold physically. Revenue generation has appreciated and that has never happened in the history of Ghana”, he said.
“Every innovative idea in Ghana since the beginning of our democracy was implemented by the NPP. The only thing attached to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was decentralization. For me, we are in a good hands. E-levy is has come to stay. Supreme court has instructed Ghana Revenue Authority to reverse wrongful deductions and ensure safe record keeping’’, he added.
He called on Ghanaians to focus more on the benefit of the tax, and added that anyone who complains about tax does not think about the progress of the country.
The Electronic- levy was implemented on the 1st of May, 2022 after parliament approved after the third hearing at the House chaired by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingdford Bagbin. The bill is estimated to generate GH6.9 billion to boost growth in 2022 after the covid pandemic. Is a 1.5 charge on all electronic transactions.
