Morning show host of Movement In The Morning on Movement TV, Kwaku Dawuro, has told President Akufo-Addo to allow the Inspector General of Police (IGDP) Dr. George Akufo Dampare to step aside as the ad hoc committee probes the leaked audio tape.
This comes after the Ghana Police Service has interdicted three Senior Officers following their involvement in a contentious audio recording, now under Parliamentary scrutiny.
These officers are Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Mr. Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, and Superintendent Mr. George Lysander Asare.
They have all been placed on interdiction while further disciplinary procedures are pursued in compliance with Police Service Protocols.
However, the broadcast Journalist is of the view that it has become neccessary that President Akufo-Addo allows Dr. George Akufo Dampare to step aside and allow the various institutions and committees to finish their probe.
He made this known during the newspaper review segment of the show with othe two colleagues, Dasebre Agyei Dwamena and Gordon Asare-Bediako.
“I have a proposal to make…it is prudent that the President allows the IGP step aside for investigation to end…if after investigations, he’s innocent, then he’s been vindicated and can assume his role. But, if it turns otherwise, then the law must deal with him accordingly”, he said.
