Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has expressed his gratitude to Chairman Wontumi for his significant support in ensuring Dr. Bawumia’s selection of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
“I’m extremely grateful to the Ashanti regional Chairman of NPP, Wontumi for his enormous support and assistance to Dr. Bawumia in everything…”, Asantehene said.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Asantehene at Manhyia, before the unveiling of Napo as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, encouraged the NPP to clearly explain their policies to Ghanaians, hoping that other parties would follow suit.
Ultimately, the decision lies with Ghanaians to choose which party to vote for.
Asantehene offered words of wisdom to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the newly appointed running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a heartfelt speech, Otumfuo urged Dr. Opoku Prempeh to serve with humility and maintain a listening ear to his boss, Dr. Bawumia.
Recalling the criticisms of arrogance leveled against Dr. Opoku Prempeh after his nomination, Otumfuo revealed that he had defended his grandson, knowing the person he had raised. However, he cautioned Dr. Opoku Prempeh not to disappoint him, emphasizing that he would be remembered in prayers for God’s plans to be fulfilled.
This heartfelt advice and blessing from the Asantehene sets the stage for Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s journey as running mate, emphasizing the importance of humility, loyalty, and effective communication of the party’s vision to the people.
