Former Member of Parliament for Ekumfi and former Deputy Food and Agriculture Minister, Francis Ato Cudjoe, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Minority leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
This comes after the former had alleged that the latter was among the few NDC MPs who voted for the Trade and Industry minister, K.T. Hammond, despite the directive from the party, that all minority MPs were to vote against the nominees.
Speaking on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, on Tuesday, he said due to the relationship between Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and the now approved minister for Trade and Industry, K.T. Hammond, there was no way the former could vote against the latter; hence he believes he’s among the MPs who defied the party’s order.
The Minority leader who didn’t take these allegations lightly, took to social media to vent his anger, as he noted that the allegations were false and therefore urged the general public to disregard it.
“As a person of unwavering integrity, I take these accusations very seriously. It is deeply troubling that someone would make such a baseless and damaging claim about me, and I refuse to let these falsehoods stand unchallenged”, he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
Adding that “To the former NPP MP who made these false accusations, I demand an immediate retraction and apology. If he has any shred of dignity left, he will rectify his mistake and take responsibility for his actions. Failing to do so will only serve to further undermine his credibility and reputation”.
Reacting to this development on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Radio on Thursday, the former lawmaker for Ekumfi retracted and apologized. Saying that he’s sorry for whatever he said which didn’t go down well with the minority leader.
“I was only sharing my thought. Many people have said a lot and I’m not the only that has passed a comment on this. I never had any intention to denigrate him. I spoke by what I believe and not by what I know is the truth”, he said.
Stressing that it was a secret ballot and thus, nobody could tell who voted for who. But he made those assertions based on the relationship between Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and K.T. Hammond.
“But I’m sorry. I don’t have any evidence to support those assertions though. However, I think Ato Forson also went far with his response. I have no bad intentions to denigrate him and undermine his integrity”, he told Kwaku Dawuro.
