Constituency Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Odotobri in the Ashanti region, Dominic Bosompem has issued an unqualified apology to the rank and file of the party following certain utterances he made.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, he elaborated that he regretted making certain utterances when he last appeared on a show on Sompa radio, where he noted that in order for the NPP to break the eight-year jinx, then either all or half of the current 137 NPP MPs are changed.
According to him, he has received several backlashes for making such statement and for that matter he retracts and apologizes to the rank and file of the party and promises that such comments will not be made again in the future.
“I didn’t know what I said was wrong. However, once my attention has been drawn to it, I’m left with no other option than to apologize. Chairman Wontumi spoke lengthy with me yesterday. I’ve also spoken to a few leaders of the party to apologize, including the Majority leader in Parliament. I’m extremely sorry”, he remorsefully apologized.
He further urged all communicators of the party to be vigilant and careful about the kind of utterances they make whiles on TV/ radio.
“We need to ensure that we sanitize our communication machinery. We shouldn’t make certain utterances which will in-turn go against our great party”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, Bernard Atwi-Boasiako has condemned the act of the constituency chairman, noting that the NPP needs a front and he will therefore apologize to all the MPs, on behalf of the constituency chairman.
