‘It Would Be Nice If The Country Builds A Statue To Honour Me’ – Maame Dokono

Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as ‘Maame Dokono,’ has expressed her desire for a statue to be erected in her honour.

In an interview with Blakk Rasta, she believes that such a honour would reflect the country’s appreciation for her contributions and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

The host, Blakk Rasta asked, “Do you think you have been honoured enough? You already have a park named after you. Or do you think there should be a statue?

Maame Dokono commented on the idea, stating, “I think there should be a statue for my legacy to be in the minds of the little ones that are coming up. I am even in their books. If something like that is erected in my honour, it will be nice.”

However, she emphasised that while she would appreciate such an honour, she is not pressuring anyone to make it happen. “I am not forcing anyone but if it is done, fine,” she added.

Blakk Rasta then mentioned that he is aware of plans to erect a statue for Maame Dokono when she turns 80 years old.
