The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo, has noted that had it not been for the intervention of President Akufo-Addo, it would have taken Ghana twelve years to recover from the brunt of COVID-19.
He noted that many Ghanaians would have died if opposition NDC was in power. Because, they couldn’t have managed the situation well; they would have chosen money over lives.
“Every Ghanaian should ensure that on Sunday, they will go to church to thank God that COVID-19 never occured during the era of John Dramani Mahama. We would have been doomed. The pandemic would have claimed more lives than it did. It would have wiped us all out like fowls. This is a man that cares less about the wellbeing of Ghanaians and would have chosen money over lives”, he said in an exclusive interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV.
He noted that the best decision government took was to go for an IMF bailout to help cushion the economy.
“We received the first tranche of $600m and as we speak, the second tranche of $600M has also arrived..All other speculation regarding the bailout is false. We’ve met all condition laid out for us, including the Tariff Review, Review Amendment Bill, Domestic Debt Restructuring”, he noted.
He stressed that the IMF bailout hasn’t affected any of government’s social interventions and policies. They are still running unabated.
“NHIS is active and running likewise free SHS, beneficiaries of LEAP are still receiving their benefit. no program has been affected by the bailout. We are still recovering from COVID-19 and yet there are road constructions ongoing everywhere in the country, to the extent that people are still requesting for more. This is what happens when you are ruled by an enlightened government”, he said.
“Don’t allow incompetent to rule over you”, he concluded.
