The Executive Director of the Ghana Museum and Monument Board(GMMB), Kingsley Ofosu Ntiamoah has indicated that it’s the vision of the board to ensure that in the next 5 years, a Museum and Monument centre will be built in all sixteen regions of the country.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Mr. Ofosu Ntiamoah disclosed that the board had begun some consultations with the regional coordinating council and the traditional council of some regions to ensure the vision is materialized.
This comes after President Akufo-Addo had reopened the renovated National Museum Gallery situated at Adabraka, Accra in June 2022.
The Museum which was opened in 1957 to commemorate Ghana’s independence was closed in 2015 due to lack of maintenance and deterioration.
President Akufo-Addo in a Facebook post on Friday, June 10, announced the refurbishment of the Museum with additional exhibits and artefacts.
The President said the restoration of the Museum to its former glory forms part of his government’s vision to create more vibrant tourism for the country.
