The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has emphatically said he has expunged Kwaku Duah’s name from the books of the party.
On the back of the expulsion, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi cautioned the people of Kumawu not fall for the lies of Kwaku Duah- an independent candidate that he belongs to the NPP ahead of the impending by-election.
In an interview with Gordon Asare-Bediako on Movement TV last Saturday, Chairman Wontumi stated that Kwaku Duah has been “campaigning on lies”.
Prior to the 2020 general elections, Chairman Wontumi said Kwaku Duah wrongfully accused the late Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Philip Basoah of not bringing development to Sekyere Kumawu Constituency.
“He (Kwaku Duah) campaigned on lies and never approached the party for forgiveness after Basoah’s death. As regional Chairman, I’ve expunged his name from our books, we don’t have Kwaku Duah’s name in our books”, Chairman Wontumi stated.
The NPP recently opened nomination for interested party members to pick forms followed by filing of nomination forms.
Some of the aspirants who have picked nominations forms included: Lawyer Edward Kofi Osei, Dr. Philip Bannor, Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, Mr Ernest Yaw Anim, Madam. Ama Serwaa, Mr. Kwame Appiah-Kubi, Yaw Baah former Kumawu MP unseated by the late MP and Osei Hweree Kwame Bempah.
Chairman Wontumi stated that he had expected Kwaku Duah to be part of the aspirants who picked the forms if he was genuinely a member of the NPP as he has been claiming.
“When the others picked forms to contest in the primaries, we expected him (Kwaku) to pick forms but he never did”, Chairman Wontumi said.
