Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has said that he is ready to support the NDC to elect John Dramani Mahama as its flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
According to him, Mahama will help the NPP win the 2024 elections if he’s elected as flagbearer for the NDC in the build-up to the 2024 elections.
“We will support the NDC to elect Mahama as their flagbearer because he’s our investment- He’s our last hope as a party. When he’s elected, winning the 2024 elections will be a walk into the parks for the NPP. Anyways, I always send him MoMo to support his campaign because there’s no way he would accept physical cash from me. We are only praying he wins the flagbearer ship slot, so we can defeat him in the general elections”, he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
Chairman Wontumi stressed that if one listen to some utterances made by the former President Mahama, it’s a clear indication that he holds grievances which are not targeted only at the NPP.
“If you listen to certain comments he made during his campaign launch at the Volta region, he said that Dr. Duffour and Kojo Bonsu have nothing better to offer the NDC from the Ashanti region. Meanwhile, during his tenure he made known to us that he has consumed all the flesh of the Ghanaian economy and what we have left is just bones”, chairman Wontumi explained.
He expressed shock over former President Mahama’s decision to boycott the Independence parade which was held at the Volta region, noting that he should have rather applauded the President for deciding to stage it at the region, which happens to be a stronghold of the NDC.
In conclusion, he noted that former President Mahama can never become a President again- and in any unlikely event that that happens, he will treat members of his party as slaves.
