Mackenzie Scott has reportedly filed for divorce from her second husband, Dan Jewett. She married Seattle-based science teacher Dan Jewett last year after divorcing Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos in 2019.
The New York Times reported that Scott filed a petition for divorce in Washington State’s King County Superior Court on Monday, September 26, 2022.
In 2021, MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett announced their marriage on the Giving Pledge webpage. The Giving Pledge is a philanthropic organization, which encourages the world’s richest people to give away a majority of their wealth to charity.
As a show of good faith from herself and her second husband, Mackenzie Scott gave away billions of dollars of her fortune.
Presently, Dan Jewett’s name has been edited out of a post that MacKenzie Scott had written last year about their gifts.
Bezos and Scott were married for 25 years before splitting in 2019. According to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, Scott has a net worth of $28.9 billion ( mostly proceeds from the divorce), making her one of the wealthiest women in the world.
