Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has emphatically described former President Mahama as a threat to Ghana’s democracy, development and to the Judiciary.
Speaking during the launching of Billionaires TV in Sehwi Wiawso, a subsidiary of Wontumi Multimedia, Chairman Wontumi buttressed his assertion that the rate at which former President Mahama keeps denigrating the Judiciary, especially the Judges, is alarming.
“During the PNDC era, many Judges were killed. It’s the PNDC that has birthed the NDC and today what do we see, denigration and insults rains on our Judges for the Flagbearer of this same party, John Dramani Mahama. He makes it look as though he has never benefited from the Judiciary. Meanwhile, it’s because of these same Judges that you were able to win the 2016 election petition. We are all witnesses to what happened during the 2016 election petition. You were a live support President following the death of President Mills- you would have never become a substantive President…”, Chairman Wontumi said.
He went further to state that it was the intervention of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who mentioned that for the sake of peace, the NPP should just throw in the towel and it’s for that reason that former President Mahama became President.
“You are on record to have said that no President could change the socio-economic life of this country within four years. Why then would you want to become a President, when you know after four years, you cannot contest again. Would you be able to change our economic situation in four years, or you are coming back to steal or change our constitution. You are a threat to our democracy, Judiciary and development”, he added.
“This is a party that has decided to make social commentator, Kevin Taylor their Interior Minister, should they come into power. Meanwhile, this is someone who has no respect for authorities. He insults traditional rulers and government officials. This is an indication of the kind of people that there NDCs are…”, he stressed.
