A government spokesperson for Social Services, Alhaji Yusif Fofana, has described former President John Dramani Mahama as the Jack Daniels who destroyed Ghana’s economy after the country was ready to take off.
His comment comes after John Mahama said government’s bad policies have contributed to the current economic slump.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Mr. Fofana said that ‘’If we are to ask what anyone remembers under the Mahama-Led administration, we cannot point out. No President under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can boast of anything. What they boast about under late President John Evans Atta Mills were executed under President John Agyekum Kufuor. The country went into Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC), yet Ghana rose to a middle income country. For hundreds of years Ghana did not have oil- President Kufuor invested in oil industry”.
”The economy was doing well under President Atta Mills because the economy was in good standing when the NPP went into opposition. Ghana was ready to take off till Jack Daniels came into power in 2012, and he ended up destroying the economy and even took Ghana to the International Monitory Fund (IMF), and President Akufo-Addo later took the country out of IMF”, he said.
He added that most of the NDC leaders accessed Free Senior High School (SHS) education but today they are speaking against the policy.
