National Communication director for the New Patriotic Party, George Krobea Asante, says Ghanaians are fortunate to have Ken Ofori-Atta since he is by far the best Finance Minister Ghana has ever had.
In an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning on Wontumi radio/Movement TV, Krobea made reference to increase in GDP, economic growth amongst others in the past few years to solidify his point of Ken Ofori-Atta being Ghana’s best Finance Minister.
He said that ”From where the Finance Minister is sitting, his explanations which made sense during his speech has been accepted. You see, there are certain times we sacrifice people in politics but truth be told, Ken Ofori-Atta remains the best finance minister we’ve ever had as a country. You can refer as far back as 2016 through to 2020, to check GDP growth, inflation, other economic indicators, interest rate, foreign direct investment and balance of payment.
Let’s look at these economic issues and judge. During the NDC governance, for the first time in history, we recorded inflation of 7.9, 2018 was 7.1, from 2018 to 2020 which was the first 4 years without COVID, the cedi depreciated about 27.3%. Under John Dramani Mahama’s first term from 2012 to 2014, with the cedi to dollar depreciation, the cedi depreciated by 55.5%. It was only during John Dramani Mahama and his finance minister’s time that there was continuous inflation”
