The General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has stated that the party is focused on maintaining the Kumawu seat and not issues of an independent candidate.
In an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP General Secretary stated that they have been able to unlock reasons an independent candidate was able to gain significant number of votes during the 2020 parliamentary elections and have put in measures to stopgap it.
He clearly stated that with the election of Ernest Yaw Anim as their Parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Kumawu Constituency, the front of the independent candidate would be weakened.
“I won’t be surprised we will maintain our seat”, Justin Frimpong Kodua said.
During the 2020 parliamentary elections, the late Hon. Basoah polled 14,960 votes for the NPP against Kwaku Duah’s 11,698 as an independent candidate.
Last Sunday, the NPP elected Ernest Yaw Anim as their Parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Kumawu Constituency.
