Broadcast Journalist, Gordon Asare Bediako, has criticized members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for drawing parallels between the US and Ghanaian elections.
According to Gordon, some NDC members claim that since Donald Trump won the US election, John Mahama will also emerge victorious in Ghana’s general election.
Speaking as Host for Elections Lens show on Movement TV, he pointed out the flaws in this comparison, highlighting that Trump’s win does not guarantee Mahama’s success.
He noted that in 2020, Mahama lost the election despite Trump’s victory., while emphasizing that political ideologies, not superficial similarities, drive electoral outcomes.
Gordon argued that this comparison ignores fundamental differences between the two countries’ political landscapes.
He criticized the NDC’s attempt to equate Ghana’s political parties with those in the US, claiming that the NDC corresponds to the Democratic Party and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) corresponds to the Republican Party. He stressed that this equivalence is misleading and oversimplifies the complexities of Ghanaian politics.
