A Communication team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Muazu Issaka Kunata, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has no good candidate to lead them in the 2024 elections.
According to him, the reason for which the party wants to maintain former President, John Dramani Mahama as their candidate for the 2024 elections is because most of the NDC members are lamenting bitterly over the poor treatment meted out to them and that has brought apathy to the party, so they believe Mahama is the best person to win back their love.
“They always lament over their welfare when the party goes into opposition, because it’s just the Presidential candidate and their family members that get to enrich themselves with the state funds whenever they are in power,” he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
He was however quick to add that the Zongo communities should be vigilant so that the NDC doesn’t present people with Muslim names as candidates, when they are not Muslim, to deceive them for their votes.
“John Dramani Mahama bears a Muslim name but he’s not a Muslim likewise Ahmed Ibrahim who’s also not a Muslim but has been presented as one just to deceive the Muslim community.
NDC has always won majority of their votes from the Volta and Northen region, yet they were very bold to take out every Muslim from the Minority leadership in Parliament.
“NPP is the only political party in Ghana that has been able to recognize and given much attention to the Muslim communities than any other government,” he added.
He further urged all Muslims to throw their weight behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for him to lead the NPP in 2024 and subsequently become the President.
