Presidential staffer and 2020 Parliamentary candidate for Kpong-Katamanso, Alexander Martey, has told parliamentary candidates hopefuls and their supporters not to engage in acrimonious campaign.
He said that all they need to do is to tell the delegates what they are capable of doing and not to denigrate and tarnish the image of other candidates.
This, he noted that will go against the fortunes of the party in that constituencies in the 2024 general elections.
“The internal campaign is about telling delegates their intentions, plans and vision for contesting the elections…but we shouldn’t be giving arms to our opponents…because when we do so, we will make campaigning for the general elections in 2024 very difficult”, he said on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV.
He explained that this is exactly what the party did in 2008 that resulted in the defeat of the party during the general election.
“We don’t want to repeat what we did in 2008…which we easily handed over power to the NDC…who only brought pain, anguish to Ghanaians…and that is how come we were in ‘dumsor’ for five solid years…we should do that again at all…lets ensure we have a clean campaign”, he said.
“This is an internal party contest and let’s be careful of how we go about with our campaign, so that if one person is finally elected, without any malice we can all support the elected candidate to win the general election”, he added.
