Former Ashanti regional organizer, Daniel Agyenim Boateng has questioned why former President Mahama decided to cancel Nursing and Teacher trainee allowances during his tenure and not the ex-gratia.
He noted that the former President had the opportunity to have scrap the ex-gratia he’s promised to scrap during his tenure but decided to rather scrap teacher and nursing trainee allowance- this is a clear indication that this is a promise he will never fulfil.
He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio that Ghanaians shouldn’t forget the anguish they went through under the leadership of former President Mahama.
“There are times God brings our way, wicked leaders to teach us a lesson. So, like Pharoah like Mahama. There were people who lost their lives due to 30 minutes of blackout(dumsor) at the hospitals. Today, they are disgracing themselves comparing Ghana to the neigbouring countries including Togo, Ivory Coast among others. Surprisingly, these countries are also going to the IMF”, he said.
He stressed that Ghana foresaw the future occurrence and decided to put in place measure to mitigate the dire effect hence the IMF bailout- and after the nieghbouring countries realized that it’s brought positive results, they decided to also go for a bailout.
“As for the NDC, nothing good comes from the NPP. There are things we do that retrogresses us a country. Even the NPP has done similar things like the ex-gratia I have always spoken against. Mahama has promised to scrap when he’s voted into power. But the question is why he didn’t scrap it during his tenure but decided to scrap Nurses and Teacher training allowance”, he asked.
Adding that even after promising it, he hasn’t been able to give any tangible reason for which he would want to scrap it.
