A communicator of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Albert Kumi popularly known as Adenta Kumi, has pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to pay heed to the Members of Parliament (MP) who are calling for the sacking of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
80 Members of Parliament signed a petition for the removal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta and later a held a press conference which was led by the MP for Asante Akim North Constituency, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi on Tuesday 25th October, 2022.
After a crunch meeting with the President yesterday late evening, he pleaded with the MPs to allow Ken Ofori-Atta finish Ghana’s negotiations with the International Monitory Fund (IMF) before a final decision can be taken.
Speaking on the above on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Adenta Kumi said that President Akufo-Addo should listen to the call and act immediately.
He said that ‘’personal research is very important for every politician because it informs and teaches you on how to go about certain situations. As a party we must always learn to sacrifice and the NPP is learning that now. People have died for this party for less. Ken Ofori -Atta is very learned but it could be the people are not willing to deal with him again. If I were to be Hon, Ken ofori Atta, I would have written a resignation letter to the President for the betterment of the party’’.
”80 MPs say they would withdraw their support if the finance minister is not sacked , that is scary because their support is very important to a ruling party. The President has requested they hold on after IMF discussions but I totally do not agree to that. There has been a research on the performance of the finance minister-and its not looking good, calling for this removal is in the interest of the party”, he stated.
”Due to what the MPs have done, I have respected the party, indeed we have ye men. We love and respect the President, we were the one that supported him in becoming the President but with all due respect he should listen to the MPs”, he added.
I applauded the 80 MPs for taking such a great move.
