Ashanti regional Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has waded into conversations regarding who becomes John Mahama’s running mate.
According to the Ashanti Governor, he cannot comprehend the reason for which former President John Dramani Mahama continues to change his running mate during each electioneering year.
In an interview monitored by movementtvonline.com, Chairman Wontumi said that “Mahama keeps changing his running mates like condoms…”, Chairman Wontumi said.
This comes after Daily Guide reported that the Northern Caucus of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected any attempt to select Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the 2024 running mate for John Dramani Mahama.
The decision was made during a recent meeting held by the caucus with the former President, urging him to reconsider his choice of running mate and his team of advisers.
The caucus expressed reservations about her abilities and suitability for the role, prompting them to advise Mahama to reconsider his decision.
Opinions were divided, with many suggesting that Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang needs to be replaced and looked beyond the Central Region.
If this report is anything to go by, then it vindicates Chairman Wontumi’s statement that the former President changes running mate like Condoms.
If Mahama selects a different running mate for the 2024 elections, then this will be the third time he’s choosing a different running mate in the last three general elections.
