Mahama has No Moral Right To Criticize The DRIP Project- Kofi Tonto

A political aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kofi Tonto, has launched a scathing attack on former President John Mahama, accusing him of hypocrisy for criticizing the DRIP project implemented by the NPP government.

In an exclusive interview on Movement TV with Kwaku Dawuro, Tonto argued that Mahama has no moral right to denigrate the project’s essence, given his own administration’s history of branding government resources with his image.

“We were in this country when the Mahama-led administration covered laptops they bought with Mahama’s pictures. As if that wasn’t enough, once you put on the laptop, you see Mahama’s image on the laptop. How different is that from us branding the DRIP equipment with NPP’s picture?” Tonto questioned.

Tonto claimed that the NDC’s criticism of the project is a repeat of their previous stance on the Free SHS policy, where they initially opposed it but later made a U-turn when they realized its benefits.

“This is the same thing they did with Free SHS. They start making noise, speaking against every project and policy we want to implement. However, once they get to realize that the policy is picking up and Ghanaians are beginning to see the benefit of it, then they make a U-turn and say they were only criticizing the process and the criteria, not the policy itself. That’s how hypocritical the NDC is,” Tonto stated.
