Adenta Kumi, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, has accused former President John Mahama of holding the National Democratic Congress (NDC) hostage with his divisive politics.
Kumi made these comments in response to the NDC’s criticism of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s suggestion that the government should provide incentives to churches.
According to Adenta Kumi, Dr. Bawumia’s suggestion was based on thorough research into the significant contributions churches make to society, and the need to provide them with tax incentives to support their humanitarian work. However, the NDC, driven by partisan interests, deliberately took Dr. Bawumia’s comments out of context to discredit him.
Kumi questioned whether Ghanaians want a leader like John Mahama, who he alleged is holding the NDC hostage with his selfish interests. He also referenced an audio tape in which Mahama is alleged to have said that the exchange rate between the dollar and cedi would be 42 cedis if he becomes President again.
“This is a clear indication that John Mahama is only interested in pursuing his personal agenda, rather than working in the best interests of Ghanaians,” Kumi said. “We urge Ghanaians to reject Mahama’s divisive politics and choose a leader who will unite and develop our country.
