A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, Philip Twum Yeboah, has emphasized the need for President-elect John Dramani Mahama to hold a press conference and address his supporters to ensure a peaceful transition of power.
In an interview on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio, with Kwaku Dawuro, he noted that it is essential for President-elect Mahama to call his supporters to order, as the country prepares for the transition of power from the incumbent President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the President-elect.
This, he believes, will help maintain peace and stability in the country.
Twum Yeboah also urged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to ensure that the security agencies are vigilant and take necessary measures to prevent any violence or unrest during the transition period.
He noted that the NPP will remain in office until January 6th, 2025, and it is crucial that the security agencies maintain law and order during this period.
Additionally, Twum Yeboah expressed disappointment that some NPP government appointees failed to transfer funds to their constituencies for transportation, which would have enabled constituents to travel to their electoral areas to vote for the NPP. He believes that this failure may have contributed to the NPP’s loss in some constituencies.
Finally, Twum Yeboah cautioned NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) who campaigned vigorously for the party to remain calm and composed, as they may be targeted by NDC supporters. He urged them to prioritize their safety and security during this transition period.
