When the government of President Akufo-Addo was busy curbing the spread of COVID-19, former President John Mahama was busy distributing ‘angwamu’ (braise rice), Dr. Kwarteng Forkuo has asserted.
The senior lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University chastised the National Democratic Congress legislatures for trying to rubbish the efforts of President Akufo-Addo in curbing the endemic virus when it soared in 2020.
Addressing the issue on Wontumi TV, Dr. Forkuo challenged the minority MPs make public the money they also used when former President John Mahama claimed he had also formed a COVID team.
“When COVID broke out, John Mahama was distributing ‘angwamu’ instead of contributing meaningfully. They (NDC) couldn’t even account to Ghana the resources they used. Though private money, were they even able to account to us?” he asked.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta was in Parliament to account to the house government’s expenditure on COVID-19.
However, the Minority accused him of inconsistencies while bemoaning what they described as too many discrepancies.
But Dr. Forkuo responded that the minority took that stance because “at all cost they want to come to power so they are telling lies. They don’t have any policy all they do is to create disaffection.”
