Michael Okyere Baafi Criticizes NDC’s Infrastructure Record in Koforidua

Deputy Trade Minister and MP for New Juaben South constituency, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, has slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its handling of infrastructure development in Koforidua during their tenure from 2008 to 2016.

Baafi claimed that the NDC only constructed five kilometers of Ashford Road, specifically from Koforidua polyclinic junction to Ayak junction and from Ayak junction to Asokore, leaving half of the estate junction unfinished.

In contrast, Baafi highlighted the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) achievements in Koforidua, stating that President Akufo Addo’s government has increased Ashford Road by 42 kilometers within three years. Additionally, the NPP government is set to commence construction on the Nyamekrom road.

He also emphasized the NPP’s contributions to the development of Zongo communities in Koforidua, citing the renovation of the Koforidua sports stadium, which hosted Ghana’s Independence Day celebration this year.

The Koforidua Park has also been transformed into a large park with amenities like restaurants, bars, and stores, complete with a security gate.

It’s worth noting that the Zongo Development Fund, established under the NPP government, has been instrumental in transforming Zongo communities across Ghana, providing basic schools, drainage systems, healthcare facilities, and economic empowerment programs
