Communication member for the New Patriotic Party, Paul Amaning, has stated that revision of the mining law can bring mining blame games to a halt.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Paul Amaning advised the Government to have a relook at the mining law, in order to curb galamsey and mining blame games. Again, he suggested that mining issues can be easily resolved if Government engages in buying of gold from legal mining companies, compelling illegal small scale miners best known as Galamsey to go through the right registration process in attaining license.
He stated that ‘ Mining blame games can be solved. We can easily solve it. If President Nana Addo can revise the amended mining law, that step alone will curb galamsey and mining issues. Government is capable of buying gold from legal mining companies, but it looks as if we have let our guards loose for foreigners to take advantage by always privatising everything that will aid in the enhancement of the country. Tell me which Ghanaian has money worth 3billion cedis for mining alone, they are just playing . If you we talk of proper mining, you first need to do prospecting before financial planning to see the amount of gold you’ll get but Ghanaians do not do them.”
