Barring a transfer, Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus is set to play under a new manager at West Ham United next season following the confirmation of Julen Lopetegui’s appointment as West Ham manager.
The appointment was confirmed today with the Spanish manager making a return to the English Premier League after his stint with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lopetegui will replace David Moyes as the lead man on the sidelines at The London Stadium from the 2024-2025 season.
Despite winning the UEFA Europa Conference League and leading West Ham to finish in the knockout stage in European competition for three straight seasons, Moyes has come under intense scrutiny over the team’s performance.
Ironically, West Ham’s last win in all competitions was a 2-1 win over Wolves at the Molineaux on April 6. Under Lopetegui, Wolves finished 13th but he resigned reportedly over the club’s financial situation.
Lopetegui won the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020 after getting dismissed as Spain’s head coach before the 2018 FIFA World Cup for agreeing a deal with Real Madrid.
In his first season at West Ham, Kudus has starred for The Hammers scoring seven goals and adding five assists in 31 league games.
At the time of writing, Kudus leads all players in Europe’s top five leagues in completed dribbles and his fine performances have prompted several teams reportedly including Chelsea and Manchester United.
