The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has been censored for his disparaging comments against Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Bernard Mornah, the former Chairman of the People’s National Congress, in a panel discussion on UTV’s morning show, Adekye Nsroma, took on Fifi Kwetey for insulting the Vice President and the people in the north.
“Did we ever complain that Bawumia is a disgrace or we ever complained that John Mahama is a disgrace” he asked the NDC’s General Secretary.
Mornah, who was visibly angry at the comments passed against Bawumia by the NDC’s scribe, asked if Fiifi Kwetey would be happy if any northerner ever described Rawlings or any politician from the Volta Region as a disgrace.
“Would Fifi Kwetey clap for any of us describing any person from his region, the Volta Region, as a disgrace? Can any of us stand in the Volta Region and pass such bad comments on any politician of the NDC stock? No, so why is he disrespecting Bawumia in our own presence?” Mornah asked.
It could be recalled that, at an NDC rally in the Northern Region, the opposition party’s General Secretary rallied the people to support John Mahama as against the ‘disgraceful’ Bawumia.
These comments have received wide condemnations from many Ghanaians who expect the two main political parties and their leadership to engage in healthy dialogue and debates on policies and programs instead of resorting to mudslinging, personal attacks and plain insults.
Bernard Mornah, who seeks to lead the PNC as its presidential candidate, is livid about the insulting remarks made against Dr. Bawumia by Fifi Kwetey and expressed his displeasure and disappointment at those unsavoury remarks by the NDC’s General Secretary.
