The Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, better known as Chairman Wontumi has noted that the huge number of first-time applicants who showed up at various centers to get their voters ID, did so due to free SHS.

He noted that they did so, to secure their eligibility to vote in the 2024 elections, to thank President Akufo-Addo and the NPP for implementing such a great policy as the free SHS.

Speaking during a press conference held in Kumasi, the Ashanti Governor disclosed that per data available to the party, out of One hundred and twenty-eight thousand, nine-hundred and sixty first time applicants who registered for their ID in Ashanti region, one hundred and eighteen thousand, six hundred and forty-three of them, throng the centers to get their ID so they could vote for the NPP in 2024.

“As a regional chairman, I want to express on behalf of the party in the region our profound gratitude to all the first-time applicants for availing themselves to get registered. They are the future leaders of Ghana and the great party. Most of the first-time voters did so due to free SHS”, he said.

“I want to thank all those who supported us to ensuring that we bused these applicants to the centers…I’m using this opportunity to urge all party members and supporters to remain calm, and believe that whatever been the case, NPP will win the 2024 elections.”
