Nana Addo Should Be Praised For Continuing Osagyefo Nkrumah’s Legacy- Daniel Nkrumah

Okaikwei South constituency first vice Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Nkrumah, has stated that the decision by President Akufo-Addo to honor the late big six personalities who fought for Ghana’s independence, rather than just Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, is a step in the right direction.

His comments follow President Akufo-Addo’s decision to propose a legislation to Parliament to designate August 4 as Founders Day, ditching September 21 as the commemorative day for Ghana’s independence fighters. However, September 21 will be observed as ‘Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day’ of which it was approved by Parliament.

Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, Mr. Nkrumah indicated that “this will encourage the youth to equally fight for the country because we know our efforts will be honored and remembered just like the big six. But if it should have remained that the Founder’s day was to acknowledge only Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, then it will discourage others from fighting for the country”.

He was however quick to add that President Akufo-Addo should be praised for continuing the legacy of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah by building more factories like Nkrumah did.

“Why don’t we appreciate someone who is repeating Nkrumah’s legacies. Those criticizing Nana Addo should be asking what has become of Kwame Nkrumah’s factory- we should be encouraging Nana Addo to do more rather than criticizing him”, he added.
