Executive Director of the National Cathedral Board, Paul Opoku Mensah, has lamented that the completion of the National Cathedral can be done by 2024 if Ghanaians Cooperate.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Mr Paul Opoku stressed on the fact that if every Ghanaian donates an amount of gh100 monthly, it can go a long way to help complete the National Cathedral by 2024.
In response to when the Cathedral will be completed, he said ”When Ghanaians bring the money we can complete it because the current context we are in, the government is done doing his part. When we get the expected money we will be able to complete by 2024 but if we are not able to, we cannot tax the government because it is not morally right.
Now the painful part is, if Christians want us to build it, we can but we will need just one million people to donate Gh100 every month, because it is not just any regular structure we are putting up which is what people do not understand.”
He added that the monument is intended to be one of the things to generate money into the economy after several years of independence.
He said ”Our intention for the country after 65 years is for us to build infrastructures, which can generate money into the system and all we are doing is to turn Ghana into Africa’s Christian Hub, which can bring in pilgrims to eradicate poverty and halt Ghana always going to IMF.”
