Constituency first vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Opoku has asserted that the NDC deliberately comes up with schemes that allows them steal from the public purse.
Citing the case of the former MASLOC Boss, Sedina Tamakloe who has been sentenced to ten (10) years imprisonment for misuse of public funds among others, Paul Opoku noted that the the former MASLOC Boss, knew very well that there was no way Obaatanpa Savings and Loans could have paid a 24% interest rate of the Gh500,000 loan it was given, and yet she gave them and requested for such an interest rate because she needed a way she could embezzle the fund.
“In any case, why did she have to give them the money before informing them of the interest rate, when it should have been spelt out to them before the signing of the agreement. When Obaatanpa Savings and Loans Company realized they couldn’t have afforded they decided to return the money, of which Madam Sedina denied taking cheque but requested for cash. Even with the cash, she insisted they don’t do that through the office, but rather meet her at a filling station…. When a new management took over the office, they wrote a letter to the company requesting that they settle the Gh500,000 debt, because it was in their records that the company had such an outstanding arrears to clear. However, they had given it back to the former CEO, Madam Sedina Tamakloe”, Mr. Opoku explained to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
“This is just one out of many strategies that the NDC adopts to steal from the public purse”, he added.
