NDC and Speaker Bagbin Don’t Understand Politics- Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah

MP for Achiase Constituency in the Eastern region, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah, has made some comments about the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.

According to Ahenkorah, the NDC and Speaker Bagbin do not understand the content about politics and are not equipped to handle the complexities of parliamentary procedure.

Speaking on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, Ahenkorah emphasized that parliamentarians are responsible for conducting the business of the house, but when it comes to constitutional issues, only the Supreme Court has the final say.

He stressed that the Supreme Court is the ultimate authority in interpreting the constitution and issuing executive orders.

The MP also expressed frustration with the NDC’s and Speaker Bagbin’s stance on the law, claiming they have indicated they will not take action to address the country’s legislative needs. Ahenkorah feels this inaction undermines democracy and is harmful to the nation.

In a surprising revelation, Ahenkorah shared that NDC members are subjected to searches before entering parliament, likening it to treatment typically reserved for students.

He believes this interrupts the democratic process and is a symptom of the NDC’s and Speaker Bagbin’s flawed understanding of politics.

Ahenkorah’s comments come amid rising tensions between the NDC and the ruling party. The NDC’s actions, including allegedly throwing the Speaker’s chair away to prevent Joe Wise from being seated, have sparked concerns about their commitment to democratic principles.
