Government’s spokesperson on social service, Alhaji Fofana has said that NDC Members of Parliament have secretly admitted that the free SHS policy has brought them so much relieve but have failed to do so publicly.
According to him, the NDC have however, failed to openly say so because they know when they do, it will go in favour of the governing party. Hence, the reason they keep on criticizing the policy.
“The NDC is a party that has no shame. After collapsing many businesses and ravaging the economy, they still want to come into power, in order to destroy all the gains, we’ve made as a party. This is a party that deprived teachers and nurses off their allowance. Sleeping in dumsor for five years and even cancelling of the book and research allowances- Ghanaians shouldn’t entertain such a party at all. How do you compare such a party to the NPP?” he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show.
He stressed that the NDC had always been criticizing the policy because they’ve been put to shame after rubbishing the policy because they claimed it wasn’t feasible.
“The NDC’s prayer was for the IMF to cancel the free SHS policy. Come what may, in any unlikely event that they come to power, they will definitely cancel it. In any case, the NDC northern regional caucus in Parliament benefited from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s free SHS policy yet, they would want to deprive others from such benefit”, he added.
“Hopefully, we will get the bailout from the IMF by close of this year”, he concluded.
