The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Clement Wilkinson has said that the NDC should forget about winning the Amasaman seat in 2024.
According to him, although the NPP snatched the seat from the NDC in the 2020 elections, there’s nowhere they could get that seat back.
In an interview on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, he said that “the seat was an NDC seat, and we snatched it. The NDC thinks they can take it back but then they should forget it. Once there’s an NPP MP and I as the MCE, then they should forget about getting that seat back. It will be an extreme disappointing if they take that seat back.
Outlining the kind of measures and interventions which he believes guarantees the NPP winning the seat, he said that “when I came to Amansaman, resident of the area had no access to pipe-borne water. But, currently out of sixty-seven (67) communities, about thirty-five (35) of them now have pipe-borne water in their homes. Today they are able to bath under shower. When I was elected as MCE for GA West, there were no office for Ghana Water Company Limited in the district- however, I saw to it and their presence have ensure residents have access to pipe-borne water in their homes”.
He noted that those who don’t have pipe-borne water in their homes, lack it because they’ve not made any effort to get it because getting access to it has become very easy.
“People had lived in the area for 25 to 30 years and because they are conversant and used to the borehole water, they don’t want to draw the pipe-borne water into their homes. When it comes to education, the NDC keep touting Mahama’s E-blocks. But, if it’s just about the E-blocks, we can build about Two Thousand (2000) of it. They promised to build 200 of them but ended up building only 29- Alot of the projects were completed by the NPP”, he explained.
