A communicator of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Kwasi Botwe has stated the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) are behind the rampant depreciation of the cedi.
According to him they have sponsored the people behind the black market to depreciate the cedi.
He said this when he joined Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wednesday 19th October, 2022.
Speaking he said that ‘’several factors affects the dollar including the black market-If you go to forex bureau and they don’t have the amount of dollar you want to exchange, they call the ‘’baba’’ to exchange for you, and these people determine the dollar rate meanwhile the bank of Ghana is the only agency that determines the exchange rate but they have failed us- for allowing black market to determine the dollar rate”.
”We appreciate the fact that external factors contributing to the dollarization but internal factors also play a role. These illegal traders are from Mali and Niger- this should not happen. You can’t go to Togo and trade in dollars”’ he added.
”These people were brought in by the NDC’s to depreciate the cedi to make the government unpopular. We were in this country when Aseidu Nketiah brought them in to vote for the NDC. Felix Ofosu Kwakye and the rest are the first to post the exchange rate before we all get to hear of it because they are embedded in this”, he stated.
He called on the security officers to track where people take these dollars.
