In all, there are 33 political entities in the region and the ranking is a simple tool in respect to the level of development in each of the entities in the region.
Competition
The ranking is being conducted by the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) through the signing of performance contracts with the assemblies to spur competition among the municipal and district assemblies so that they do their best in terms of the provision of development projects and programmes geared towards the improvement of the living standards of the people.
Rankings
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, who made the rankings public during the Regional Coordinating Council meeting last Tuesday, said the municipal and district assemblies had signed a performance contract to create a high-performance culture among the staff of the Local Government Service to improve service delivery and enhanced productivity.
That, he stated, was in line with the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936).
