NHIA Releases GH¢400 Million To Address Outstanding Healthcare Claims

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has taken a significant step in addressing outstanding claims by releasing GH¢400 million to healthcare providers nationwide.

This latest disbursement, covering claims for April and May 2024, highlights the NHIA’s ongoing commitment to improving the sustainability and efficiency of healthcare delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

With a total of GH¢800 million allocated for providers, the NHIA’s timely release of funds aims to ensure that payments are made within the agreed three-month reimbursement period.

This substantial release not only bridges the debt gap but also reinforces the Authority’s commitment to a robust and efficient healthcare system.

Currently, the NHIS Benefit Package covers over 95 percent of disease conditions affecting residents and includes over 550 formulations on the NHIS medicines list, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all diseases under the scheme.
