Broadcast Journalist with Wontumi Multimedia, Dasebre Agyei Dwamena has said that any NDC member with conscience should defect from the party, should the party elect James Gyakye Quayson as the candidate for the bye-elections in Assin North.
According to the ace-broadcaster, why would the NDC decide to present James Gyakye Quayson, as their candidate while he’s still standing trail in court.
“I’m urging all members of the NDC with conscience to advise themselves quickly as possible. Because it’s a party filled with unserious people. How do you present someone with such a criminal case to contest elections when you know he could be jailed…so what happens if he’s convicted after he wins”, he asked during the newspaper review on Movement TV.
Adding that it was because of him the party decided not to hold any primaries in Assin-North during its recent ended elections- this is a clear indication that he’s the candidate the party want to present and that is why as a member with conscience, you need to leave the party.
If the NDC presents James Gyakye Quayson as candidate for the bye-elections, when he’s still standing trail in court, then if you are a member with conscience, you need to opt out from the party.
This comes after the Apex court had ordered Parliament to remove his name from the parliamentary records, hence the likelihood that the Electoral Commission will conduct a bye-election.
