Not All Metres Are Being Updated – ECG Clarifies

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has clarified that its current metre update programme only applies to Nuri metres in select areas and not to all types of metres across the country.

Nii Ayiku Ayiku, the External Communications Manager for ECG, explained that the update is currently focused on Accra East, Accra West, and Tema regions within the Greater Accra Region.

He provided these details during an interview on Accra 100.5 FM’s “Ghana Yensom” morning show, co-hosted by Kaayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku and Odeyeeba Kofi Essuman.

Nii Ayiku likened the update process to a mobile phone software update, noting that it follows standard transfer specifications.

He emphasized that only Nuri metres in the specified regions are eligible for the update according to ECG’s operational demarcations.

Customers are advised to check the type of metre they have installed to determine if they are eligible for the update.

While updates have been completed in areas like Prampram, Nii Ayiku highlighted that the process is only ongoing in the specified Greater Accra areas and does not encompass all ECG operational regions.

Apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the updates, Nii Ayiku also directed customers who have experienced lost credits during the metre exchange prorgamme to call ECG’s customer service line at 0303616161 to initiate a refund process.
