NPP Government Committed to Introducing A Law to Safeguard Free Education Policy- Kofi Okyere Agyekum

Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South constituency, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum, has disclosed that the NPP’s biggest fear is that the next government might abolish the free SHS policy.

Thus, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by President Akufo-Addo, is set to introduce a law to protect the free Senior High School (SHS) education policy from potential abolition by future governments.

Speaking on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio’s Movement In The Morning show, Hon. Agyekum emphasized that the free SHS policy has been a game-changer, and the NPP wants to ensure its sustainability.

He also highlighted the government’s achievements, including the implementation of the “One District, One Factory” initiative, which has been exporting goods for about four years.

However, Hon. Agyekum expressed concern over the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) stance on the policy, citing their disagreement over the exportation of goods. He also criticized the parliamentary leader, Mr. Bagbin, for his alleged arrogance and hypocrisy.

The introduction of the law aims to safeguard the free education policy and ensure its continuity, regardless of future government changes.
