NPP Will Not Play Blame Games: The Focus Is To Revamp The Economy- Osafo Marfo

A communicator of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Felix Osafo Marfo, has said the focus of the New Patriotic Party is to revamp the economy and not to play blame games.

He said this when he joined Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Thursday 29th September, 2022.

Speaking he said that “the meat (good financial standing) former President Kufuor left was embezzled by the NDC.  When they left government in 2016, there were no global crises or pandemic. Most of the 4.6 million Ghanaians who had saved their monies in the various banks were not allowed to access it due to financial mismanagement. After review of the bank of Ghana’s report, government decided to sieve the banking sector and 4.6 billion was used to resolve the financial sector cleanup. Government spent 17 billion on  excess capacity charges which was caused by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). We woke up one morning to covid-19 pandemic when the country’s growth rate from 2017-2019 had reached 7.8% after the NPP government took over at 3.3% of GDP.  8.1 billion was also spent on covid-19”.

”Globally covid-19 hit every country including Ghana, and just when we thought everything was over, we were hit by the Russian-Ukraine war. Ghana has spent 51 billion on excess capacity charges, 4.6Million on financial sector cleanup and covid-19.  President Akufo-Addo and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta have admitted there is a problem, and that shows they are determined to fix them. We are not playing blame games, we will revamp the economy” ,he added.

He added that Ghana had no plan going to IMF, the reason e-levy was introduced, however there was a total resistance for 6 months so they couldn’t achieve the revenue target, and that led to the decision to go to IMF.
