NPP’s Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang Joins Eastern Region Chairmanship Race

The Chairman of New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s), New Juaben North constituency, Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, has expressed interest in running for the Eastern Regional Chairmananship positions.

He was retained as the constituency chairman for New Juaben North in the just ended elections beating  his two contenders, Edward Asante Antwi, and William Amankra, with 281 votes against 92 and 127 votes respectively.

The sitting Eastern Region secretary of the NPP, Jeffery Konadu, according to Asaase News sources, has also decided to contest the regional chairmanship role.

The incumbent Eastern Regional chairman of the NPP, Kingston Akomeng Kissi, has declared his intention to contest the national vice chairmanship position of the party in the upcoming national executive elections, a source close to his campaign has told Asaase News.

The NPP Vice chairman aspirant was re-elected as the Eastern Regional chairman of the NPP on the 23 April 2018 stood as an unopposed candidate.

Chairman Kissi’s decision to go national, has paved way for Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, to contest for the Eastern regional chairmanship slot.

According to some NPP party faithful in the Eastern Region who spoke to Asaase News, Mr Boateng Agyemang, enjoys widespread support in the Eastern Region and among NPP bigwigs for the Eastern Region chairmanship position.

A communiqué issued by the NPP on 13 May 2022, and signed by the party’s general secretary, John Boadu, says the National Council, at a meeting held on Thursday 12 May 2022, has fixed the regional annual delegates’ conference which will among other things, elect regional executive officers of the party to serve a four-year term, for Friday 27 through to Sunday 29 May 2022.

 Positions

 Apart from the regional chairmanship positions, among the other posts to be contested during the regional annual delegates’ conference are first regional vice-chairperson, second regional vice-chairperson, regional secretary, assistant regional secretary and regional treasurer.

The other positions are regional organiser, regional women’s organiser, regional youth organiser and regional Nasara coordinator.

Internal mechanisms

As part of the rules and regulations approved by the National Council for the conduct of the elections, all individuals who decide to contest for positions in the regional elections will have to exhaust all internal grievance mechanisms and not resort to external means of dispute resolution.

“Any member of the party or aspirant who feels aggrieved at any point in the process SHALL exhaust ALL available internal resolution mechanisms in accordance with Article 4 of the Party Constitution and the decision of the National Appeals Committee on the matter shall be final and binding,” the communiqué signed by John Boadu said.
