Okyeame Kwame Meets Former US Vice President Al Gore

Ghanaian musician and Climate Clock Ambassador, Okyeame Kwame, met with the former US vice president Al Gore in Accra during the 54th Climate Reality Leadership Training.

The programme was held from November 13-15, 2023 in Accra, Ghana.

The session which was led by Al Gore was one of the largest gatherings of scientists, experts and youth across the African continent providing overview of the latest climate science, existing policies, solutions and opportunities for advocates to make a difference.

In a tweet, Okyeame Kwame expressed his excitement about meeting the former Vice President and appreciated his love for climate matters.

Okyeame Kwame has been working in the climate change space since 2015 when he was an ambassador for the Redd Plus Campaign which was organised by the Forestry Commission of Ghana.

In 2018 he was also appointed ambassador for the Dedicated Grant Mechanism (DGM) with was a World Bank programme spearheaded by Solidaridad.

“Currently, I am going to schools all over Ghana raising champions, planting trees with children and naming the trees after them so that they will take care of them,” he told myjoyonline.com.

Okyeame added that when Al Gore came to Ghana he request for a private meeting with a few people and he was lucky to have been part of the team.

“When I met him, the most remarkable thing that he does is that you cannot be a climate advocate and eat meat. He is vegan so wherever he goes all his programmes are vegan so I commended him for it,” he said.

Okyeame Kwame admired for his love for nature and his quest to make a environment a safe place for all living things.

Some of his musical works include ‘Made in Ghana’, ‘Faithful’, ‘Yeeko’, ‘Sika’, and his latest ‘Insha Allah’ featuring King Paluta.
