One person has been confirmed dead following the collapse of a 3-storey building at Nmai Dzorn, near Ashaley Botwe, in the Greater Accra Region.
The deadly disaster happened on Thursday with rescue operations said to have located the body of the deceased on Friday, May 5.
It is unclear what caused the building’s collapse but eye witnesses said there were workers in there when it occurred.
One other person, who escaped from the rubble, was rushed to the hospital.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Ghana Police Service and Adentan Municipal Assembly helped in the rescue operation.
The deceased was said to have been trapped in the rubble until sniffer dogs were brought on site by the military to locate his body.
Media General‘s Richard Bright Addo reports that the deceased, 40, left behind a wife and two children.
His family were at the scene when his body was recovered. They have been crying since news broke that he was trapped in the rubble.
He hails from Volta Region, where his mum and dad are, our reporter added.
Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have since cordoned off the area.
