Otto Addo Should Perform Beyond The Past World Cup Milestone – Kwesi Nyantakyi

Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has tasked Otto Addo to guide the Black Stars to their best-ever finish at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana will be mounting the world stage once this month after missing out on the World Cup four years ago. The Black Stars have made three appearances at the Mundial but their best performance came during the 2010 edition in South Africa, where they exited in the quarterfinal stage.

Nyantakyi, who was the president of the Ghana FA in previous appearances at the World Cup, believes Addo, with the experience he has had since 2006 should be enough to lead the Black Stars to their greatest performance in Qatar.

“I think Otto Addo is a unique person in the set-up of the football association because he took part in the 2006 World Cup as a player — then in 2014 he returned as a part of the technical — and in 2022 he’s going there as the head coach so he’s had the benefit of almost every experience,” he said on Joy Sports’ Prime Take.

“So, I expect him to do well in managing the players — I expect him to do well in instilling discipline in the team — I expect him to be firm and operate according to the highest and best standard in coaching — I expect him to do his very best to ensure that we achieve the best in this World Cup.

“He should perform beyond the milestone that we have achieved in the past because as a person, he has seen it all, as a player he was part of the team that negotiated bonuses with us so he should be able to coil any agitations about bonuses from the front of players.”

Ghana is drawn in Group H, where they will come up against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay hoping to go past the group stage once again.
