Ashanti regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, saying it’s a testament to Bawumia’s visionary leadership and implementation of great ideas.
Speaking on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio with Kwaku Dawuro, Chairman Wontumi noted that Otumfuo didn’t call Bawumia “my son” lightly, but rather because of his impressive track record and commitment to serving Ghana.
Wontumi also took a swipe at former President Mahama, describing him as myopic and lacking vision.
In contrast, he noted that the Ashantis have always had a special place for visionary leaders, and Otumfuo’s endorsement of Bawumia is a significant nod to his leadership abilities.
Mahama had previously suggested that Bawumia wouldn’t be made the NPP flagbearer because of his Northern heritage. However, Wontumi pointed out that Otumfuo’s endorsement has effectively silenced such criticisms, demonstrating that the Akans have accepted and endorsed Bawumia.
