A member of the communications team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Patrick Awuku has said that all the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could do best, is to lie and throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians.
According to him, they are best known for doing everything possible to make government unpopular whenever they are in power.
Speaking on the size of Akufo-Addo’s government during the discussion segment of Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio, he said that during the tenure of the NDC, Ghana had only 10 regions, as against the NPP’s tenure when 6 new regions have been created and therefore one shouldn’t expect that the size of both governments will be the same.
“We need to educate Ghanaians and let them know that the fact that you’re a Member of Parliament doubling as a minister, that doesn’t mean you take home double salaries. It’s just a little addition to your salary as MP. The difference is not even up to Three Thousand Ghana cedis (3000)- and here lies the case where over 15 ministers are equally Member of Parliament”, he said.
Therefore, when the NDC says the size of government is too big that’s a lie. They just want to create a different impression.
According to him, if the NDC is really concerned about the wellbeing and welfare of Ghanaians, then they should tell their MP in parliament to slash 10% of their salaries- just as President Akufo-Addo had slashed about 30% of his appointees” salary.
He stressed that the NDC is always thinking of finding means and ways of making the government unpopular.
“They have never for once on any platform tried to educate Ghanaians. They always know the truth but intend to peddle falsehood, “he added.
